Housewarming party in Chiang Mai

The neighbors and friends come to see the new house and celebrate with guests and hosts. The monks are also invited to housewarming parties, and they follow the same format of celebration as other events where the monks are present.

The celebration begin in the morning, and after the monks have performed a service, they are offered a meal, while others also share a meal.

Someone may also hire a band or karaoke equipment for the occasion. After the monks have left, visitors sit at tables, drink bear and other alcoholic beverages. Guests take a portion of the costs of the celebration by donating cash and assisting in food preparation in the same manner as at weddings or funerals.
